- 1:15 – Maximum Slope: Use of independent access, its angle should be 4 degrees.
- 1:12 – Minimum Slope: Minimum required and often required by local authorities, its angle should be 5 degrees.
- 1:8 – Portable Ramps: Balance between gradient and space suitable, its angle should be 8 degrees.
- 1:6 – Short Threshold Ramp: Acceptable in a few cases, its angle should be 10 degrees.

Landings: There should be a level landing at the top and bottom of the ramp as well as at any intermediate points along the ramp. The minimum size of a landing is typically 60 inches by 60 inches to allow for a 180-degree turn for a wheelchair.
Edge protection: Ramps should have edge protection, typically in the form of curbs or guardrails, to prevent wheelchairs from accidentally rolling off the side.
Handrails: A ramp handrail is often significant for both sides when it exceeds 6 inches in height or if the ramp is longer than 72 inches. The height of handrails is typically between 34 and 38 inches above the surface of the ramp.
