In this article, we will estimate and cast analyses of pile caps and reference them with practical work. Also, provide an AutoCAD file of pile cap details drawing for free download.
The below estimate of rods, cement, sand & stone for the pile cap.
Given Data:
The pile cape height (T) is 5″+30″, but 5″ has a primary surface making for the pile cap, it will be only C.C. Originally we will get height = 30″, Length = 112″ & Breadth = 42″
Volume = (30 x 102 x 42) / 1728 = 74.38 Cft (Cubic Foot)
The Casting Ration is 1:1.5:3
Cement: (74.38 x 1.5)/(1+1.5+3)= 111.57/5.5 = (20.29x 1) = 20.29 cft [1bag cement equal to 1.25 cft] so, 20.29/1.25 = 16.23 bag cement.
Sand: (74.38 x 1.5)/(1+1.5+3)= 111.57/5.5 = (20.29 x 1.5) = 30.44 cft sand.
Stone or Coarse Aggregate: (74.38 x 1.5)/(1+1.5+3)= 111.57/5.5 = (20.29 x 3) = 60.87 cft stone.
The side clear cover will be 3″ and the Bottom clear cover is 6″ from the Design criteria. If not mentioned to follow the regional building code system or ASTM.
Main Rod 20mm @4″ c/c = 8’6″ – (3×2)” x ((3’6″ – (2×3))/4″+1)
or = (102″ – 6″) x (((42″-6″)/4) + 1)
=96″x (9+1)
=960 inches
=80 feet
Total weight of 20mm rod = (80 x 0.75) = 60kg
Binder Rod 16mm @5″ c/c = (42″-6″) x (((102″-6″)/5) +1)
= 36″ x ((96/5)+1)
= 36″ x (19.2+1) or [19+1]
=36″x 20
=720 inches
= 60 Feet
Total weight of 16mm rod = (60×0.48) = 28.8 kg
The pile cap height is 30 inches, but the side mesh bar height will be = 30″ – (bottom clear cover 6″ + bottom mesh 20mm & 16 mm bar hight + top mesh 12mm & 12mm hight + top clear cover 1.5″ ) = 30″ – (6″+1.4″+0.95″+1.5″) = 30″-9.85″ = 20.15 or 20 inches
8′-6″ Side Mesh 10mm @ 6″ c/c
Vertical = (20″+(6″x2)) x ((96/6)+1) = 32″x17= 544″ = 44.33 feet
Horizontal = (8’+ (6″x2)) x (20″/6+1) = 8’+1′ x 4.3 = 9’x4 = 36 feet
3′-6″ Side Mesh 10mm @6″ c/c
Vertical = (20″+(6″x2)) x ((36/6)+1) = 32″x7 = 224″ =18.66 feet
Horizontal = (3’+ (6″x2)) x (20″/6+1) = 3’+1′ x 4.3 = 4×4 = 16 feet
Total weight of 10mm rod = 44.33+36+18.66+16 = 115 feet x 0.188 = 21.62 kg
